Every year, the vibrant city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, becomes the world capital of salsa during the electrifying National Salsa Day. This iconic event, organized by radio station Z93 FM (Zeta 93), has honored the great exponents of salsa since its first edition in 1984, thanks to the initiative of Pedro Arroyo, a key figure in the history of radio and tropical music in Puerto Rico.

National Salsa Day is not just a musical event; it is also an expression of Puerto Rican pride. In 2000, Law No. 100 was enacted, officially declaring the third Sunday of March each year as National Salsa Day in Puerto Rico, recognizing its cultural and social value.

Since then, this celebration has become one of the most important in the Caribbean and in the global salsa community, attracting both locals and international visitors.

Recent and Upcoming Editions

2024 (40th edition): Held on March 17 at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, bringing together thousands of fans to commemorate four decades of salsa history.
2025 (41st edition): Scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Plaza de la Independencia, located between Hiram Bithorn Stadium and Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan. This edition will pay tribute to the legendary Ismael “El Sonero Mayor” Rivera in celebration of his birthday.

Confirmed artists for 2025 include Willie Rosario, Bobby Valentín, Willie González, Moncho Rivera, Papo Cocote, Luisito Carrión, Rico Walker, Tromboranga, and Yahaira Plasencia, among other prominent local and international salsa performers.
