Puerto Rico offers exceptional conditions for kayaking and paddleboarding thanks to its warm climate year-round, diverse coastline, and the convergence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. However, conditions should always be evaluated before entering the water, as strong swells can increase currents near natural openings.

Mar Chiquita also allows for a combination of paddling, beach relaxation, and light exploration of the surrounding environment. Early mornings and late afternoons are the most recommended times to paddle due to reduced wind and fewer visitors.

Because it is a sensitive ecosystem, visitors are encouraged to avoid resting on rock formations, refrain from dragging equipment outside permitted areas, and use biodegradable sunscreen.
